Zoe Saldaña got emotional as she accepted her first Golden Globe award on Sunday. She won Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in “Emilia Pérez.”

She thanked the film’s cast and crew, including director Jacques Audiard, star Karla Sofía Gascón, and fellow nominee Selena Gomez.

“This is a first time for me, and I’m just so blessed that I’m sharing this with Selena and Karla and Jacques and all of my fellow nominees. I’m in awe of you,” Saldaña said. She praised her fellow nominees for their support.
Saldaña’s heartfelt gratitude and praise
“All I have witnessed is just us showing up for each other and celebrating each other, and it’s just so beautiful,” she said. In commending Audiard, Saldaña gushed, “You’re so French and so chic and confident and kind — I love it.”
She also added, “Adriana, Édgar [Ramírez] and Selena, I’m sharing this with you.
Karla, no one other than you could have played Emilia Pérez.”
The other nominees in the category included Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Felicity Jones (“The Brutalist”), Margaret Qualley (“The Substance”), and Isabella Rossellini. “Emilia Pérez” had garnered 10 nominations, the most for any feature film. In addition to Saldaña and Gomez, the film was nominated for Best Picture and Best Non-English Language Picture, with Gascón for Best Actress, Audiard for Director and Screenplay, Best Original Score, and two nods for Best Original Song.
Nikki Glaser hosted the 2025 Golden Globes from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. The ceremony aired live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ With Showtime.
