You’re busier than ever—between work, spending time with your kids and grandkids, community events and socializing. The last thing you want to do with your precious time is run errands—and now you don’t have to.
Enter the newest rage: Subscription boxes delivered to your home. Subscription boxes cost a set amount of money each month or quarter, and you sign up to receive either a selected product or an assortment of products on a regular basis. With a subscription service, you know your products are scheduled to arrive a certain time each month and you’ll never run out.
Subscription services vary in cost and frequency, but most cost anywhere from $10 to $50 a month. Many of the beauty, fashion and food boxes have you fill out a style or personality profile when you sign up so that your subscription is specifically tailored to you. Generally, most have flexible returns (if you don’t like something you get, you can return it) and easy cancellation policies.
One of our faves: The Subscribe and Save feature from Amazon.com. You simply select eligible items—anything from laundry detergent and coffee pods to diapers and cosmetics. Then you automatically receive a new shipment of the item in the monthly intervals you select—and you only pay for each order when the item is shipped. Shipping is free and you receive an additional discount (usually around 15%) off the price of your item.
And while it’s not a box of goodies, another subscription service that is way worth it if you’re big online shopper: ShopRunner. Pay either $8.95 monthly or $79 annually and you get free 2-day delivery and free returns across their retailer network (which includes big names like Toys R Us, Lord and Taylor, GNC, and Blue Nile, among others). Can’t get items delivered to your home? The membership fee also includes PickUp Points where you can go to a partnered drugstore or retailer and pick up your package.
