Stephanie Vaquer, a new WWE signing, suffered her first pinfall loss in a number one contender’s match on the latest episode of NXT. Vaquer made her debut in October as the partner of Giulia, facing Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade. She had been undefeated since her arrival, including in the Iron Survivor Challenge.

Last week, Vaquer won a match against Cora Jade, Lola Vice, and Kelani Jordan to earn a shot at the Women’s North American Championship. However, Shotzi also earned a title shot by pinning champion Fallon Henley in a six-woman tag team match. This week, Vaquer and Shotzi faced off to determine the new number one contender.

The match saw interference from Fallon Henley and Jacy Jayne. Henley hit Vaquer with her title belt, allowing Shotzi to roll her up for the win.

Shotzi earns title match opportunity

This marks Vaquer’s first pinfall defeat in WWE. Shotzi will now challenge Fallon Henley for the NXT Women’s North American Championship on the January 28 episode of NXT. The match will take place at the “WWE NXT: Center Stage” event in Atlanta.

Throughout their match, Shotzi and Vaquer traded pinfall and submission attempts. Shotzi hit a hurricanrana from the top rope, while Vaquer responded with a hip toss into the turnbuckle and knees in the corner. Jacy Jayne attempted to distract both women, but they teamed up to hit her with a double headbutt.

Vaquer got Shotzi on the ropes, but Henley interfered, striking Vaquer with her championship while the referee was distracted. This allowed Shotzi to get the pin, but she was unhappy about Fatal Influence’s interference.
