Jennifer Garner spoke about the impact of the Palisades fire on her community in an interview with MSNBC. The actress, 52, revealed that she lost a friend from her church who did not make it out in time. “I did lose a friend, and for our church, it’s really tender so I don’t feel like we should talk about it yet,” Garner said, her voice cracking.
“She didn’t get out in time.”
Garner has been actively volunteering alongside Chef José Andrés at World Central Kitchen’s pop-up locations around Los Angeles County. They are working to feed evacuees who fled the fires. “My heart bleeds for my friends,” Garner said.
“I can think of 100 families, and there are 5,000 homes lost. I feel almost guilty walking through my house. You know, what can I do?
How can I help? What can I offer?”
Garner praised Andrés and his mission to serve the community amid the tragic fires. “It is an incredible thing to watch.

World Central Kitchen and Chef José just come in, and they’ve got this handled,” she added. The actress has lived in and around the Palisades for 25 years.
She reached out to Andrés through her work with Save The Children. “I was able to just say, ‘Can I be with you for the day? What can I do to help?
Put me to work,'” Garner explained. The Palisades Fire, which broke out on Tuesday, remains the largest fire ravaging Los Angeles County. It has destroyed over 21,000 acres in Pacific Palisades and Malibu and is currently only 8% contained.
Residents from areas such as Malibu, Santa Monica, and Altadena were forced to evacuate. Celebrities, including Adam Brody, Leighton Meester, and Anna Faris, are among those who have lost their homes. Various organizations are accepting donations and volunteers to help the victims of the L.A. fires.
Garner encourages those looking to contribute to get involved and support the community during this difficult time.
