Glenn Close, the legendary actress with a career spanning nearly five decades, recently shared some intriguing insights about her most memorable on-screen kiss. During an appearance on Bravo’s “Plead the Fifth” segment, Close was asked to name her best on-screen kiss. Without much hesitation, the 77-year-old actress closed her eyes for a moment and revealed that it was with Robert Redford in the 1984 film “The Natural.” However, she added, “I only got to kiss him once.” When asked if it was just one take, Close replied, “Maybe we did two takes, but I also threw him out of my apartment in that movie.”
In “The Natural,” Redford played Roy Hobbs, a middle-aged baseball prodigy who revitalizes his team’s prospects.
Close portrayed Iris Gaines, Hobbs’ love interest, a role that earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Close also discussed her impressive career, which includes eight Academy Award nominations, although she has yet to win an Oscar.

During the interview, Close also shared an interesting tidbit about the 1985 film “The Big Chill.” She revealed that Kevin Costner was originally supposed to appear in the movie, but his scenes were cut from the final version. “It was Kevin Costner as the body that was being prepared,” she explained. Close noted that the director, Lawrence Kasdan, felt so badly about cutting Costner’s scenes that he later cast him in “Silverado,” which helped launch Costner’s career.
“Larry Kasdan, who was the director and co-writer of ‘The Big Chill,’ felt so badly — because Larry is such a good person — that he made him a star in ‘Silverado,'” Close said.
