Beyoncé wins album of the year

The 67th Annual Grammy Awards took place last night in Los Angeles, celebrating the best in music while also paying tribute to the city still recovering from devastating wildfires. The night was filled with unforgettable performances, emotional speeches, and historic wins.

Beyoncé made history by winning her first Album of the Year award for “Cowboy Carter,” a milestone in her illustrious career.

She seemed stunned by the win, only approaching the stage after a nudge from her daughter, Blue Ivy.

Other major winners included Kendrick Lamar, who won Song of the Year and Record of the Year for “Not Like Us,” a diss track aimed at his music nemesis, Drake. Sabrina Carpenter took home the Best Pop Vocal Album award for “Short n’ Sweet,” while Doechii became the third woman to win Best Rap Album for “Alligator Bites Never Heal.

The night also featured a series of riveting performances, particularly from the Best New Artist nominees.

Beyoncé’s milestone Grammy win

Benson Boone, Doechii, Teddy Swims, Shaboozey, and Raye each brought their unique flair to the stage, making it one of the most memorable segments of the evening. The Grammys utilized their platform to encourage donations and support for those affected by the L.A. wildfires.

Host Trevor Noah announced that they had raised $7 million, turning their ad time into a powerful tool for good. The ceremony also included a touching tribute to music legend Quincy Jones, featuring performances by Cynthia Erivo, Lainey Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, and Janelle Monae, celebrating his impact across multiple genres and generations. While the night was filled with incredible fashion moments, there were a few missteps and malfunctions.

Kanye West and Bianca Censori’s attempt to shock with a dramatic coat drop was met with more eye rolls than applause. At the same time, Beyoncé suffered a minor wardrobe malfunction during her acceptance speech. Overall, the 2025 Grammy Awards were a night to remember, filled with incredible music, emotional tributes, and a celebration of the resilience and creativity of the music community in the face of adversity.
